3 Best Positive Habits For Graduates

The time after finishing uni is a great time to build some of the best positive habits as a graduate. Having a few core habits can help keep you grounded during this time. Especially when everything is up in the air.

In this post, I’m going to list you 3 of the best positive habits that you can put in place today.

Positive Habit #1 – Meditation

Meditation is by far my favourite habit. I’ve practiced it every day for the past 2-3 years, and it’s honestly life-changing.

One of the benefits of meditation is that it’s a keystone habit. This is particularly useful for graduates. The more positive habits you have in place, the better the life you’ll live. A keystone habit means that by meditating often, you’ll automatically bring other positive habits into your life. How cool is that?

This is also useful when beginning your post-uni life. The foundation of meditation ensures you maintain structure going forwards. In the future, I’ll do a more in-depth post on how to meditate and the benefits of meditation. For now, know that meditation can help you to focus your attention on both the future and present activities. It also ensures your mind stays calm, level-headed, and goal-orientated.

Positive Habit #2 – Journaling

This habit is incredibly useful in understanding yourself and figuring out what you want to do with your life. In essence, journaling is writing your thoughts, logically, on paper.

Using specific journal prompts, such as “Where would you like to be in 5 years time?” can shed some light on your life direction, and help you to figure out appropriate steps to take to get there.

You may choose to do an extended journal session once a week, or maybe a shorter one every night. Either way, journaling helps to organise your thoughts. It allows you to discover easy ways to improve. If you already journal, start a discussion below with some of your favourite prompts.

Positive Habit #3 – Daily Learning

Consistent growth must come from a consistent learning practice. The easiest way to do this is by reading regularly. There is an abundance of topics to choose from. Expand your knowledge in more than one specific area for the best results. This will allow you to approach life better equipped, as well as making you more employable.

Further, if you want to get hired with ease, I recommend reading around your area of work.

Learning isn’t limited to books, either. Right now, you’re reading a blog (and hopefully learning)! Books, blog posts, online courses, YouTube videos, podcasts, and even conversations can all be great ways to learn. Plus, the more you learn, the better! You’ll be able to overcome more that life throws your way.

Thanks for reading.
