I get urges just as much as you. Over my many years of practicing NoFap, there has been one phrase that I have said almost every time I get an urge. It’s something that has helped me curb a NoFap urge and stay strong in brief moments of weakness.
This is a tool I’ve only recently realised was in my overcoming-pornography arsenal. It’s a tool that has served me well, that I didn’t even realise I was using until a few days ago.
The beauty of this phrase is that it takes less than a second to say and can completely change the outcome of an urge.
And that phrase is simply ‘NoFap’.
Why it works
Saying this phrase helps in a number of ways.
It’s a reminder as to why you’re doing this in the first place. It’s a prompt to stay strong. It’s a way of telling yourself no – literally. No Fap; do not masturbate.
All of these are ways that saying ‘NoFap’ can help whenever you have an urge. And of course, there are many others ways it can help, if you so choose.
To make the most of this phrase, it’s useful to know why you’re doing NoFap. To have a compelling reason that can help you face the Porn Demon and win this battle. Once you have that, whenever you say or think ‘NoFap’, you’ll be reminded of your reason.
Sure, it’s not perfect. Sure, it might not work every time. But it does work sometimes, and that’s better than never.
It might not be the best urge management tool at your disposal. It isn’t super effective against the stronger, more powerful urges.
But in those brief moments of temptation, when you catch yourself starting to fantasise or to start thinking about PMO, it can help.
It’s helped me overcome this addiction, and it can help you, too.
Give it a try.
Take Action
The next couple of times you have an urge, simply try saying ‘NoFap’ to yourself. Observe your behaviour afterwards.
Then come back to this post and let me know how it goes. Show your support and encouragement to others by leaving a comment.
Until next time, Stay Triumphant.
